“Understanding the benefits and limitations of numerical weather models is crucial to how I forecast. The highest quality weather forecasts always start with an understanding of meteorological fundamentals and leveraging collaborative insights.”
Amanda joined the CWG team after completing her Master’s degree in Atmospheric Science at North Carolina State University. She has always had an interest in applying meteorological knowledge to real-world situations, which was reinforced by conducting stakeholder-driven research related to tropical cyclone impacts at NC State. Amanda has ample experience with short, medium, and long-range forecasting from her various internships. During her undergraduate degree at the University of Georgia, she interned with the National Weather Service offices in Huntsville, Alabama and Peachtree City, Georgia. She also interned with the Raleigh, North Carolina office during graduate school in summer 2024. In addition to her operational forecasting knowledge, she has experience running numerical weather models for research, giving her an advanced understanding of the inner workings of this crucial weather forecasting tool. Amanda is dedicated to using her various skillsets to provide robust forecasts for both the energy and agricultural sectors. She looks forward to helping CWG’s clients manage weather-related risk.
